Alix Gabele - 2005 (Germany)

What were you studying/where were you working?

I had a baby in the year 2005, and thereafter when the baby was 3 months old, I started at Bush Radio. My tasks ranged from translations to 20-min-presentations with the aim of deriving sponsorship.

What are you currently doing (Work, studies, etc)?

I went back to WDR (Westdeutscher Rundfunk) in Cologne, where I am currently working as a radio DJ.

Most memorable experience at Bush Radio

My most memorable experience at the station was being able to see my four month old baby in Priscilla’s crèche between so many cute kids. I also remember Victor's "Daai’s die move!" shows, which I found adorable.

Most memorable experience of South Africa

Whilst being pregnant, I went shopping in a supermarket, and a woman who stood behind the cake counter watched me for some time. Thereafter she came over, apologised and told me, "Sorry, I just wanted to say, that you look so beautiful and proud with that big tummy”. I found that to be such a nice thing to say.
